Thank God for the young people retreat 1/13/2024-1/15/2024. (SAT to MON) The main organizers of this retreat were Susan Yun (Washington) and a couple of Joseph Han Jr + Rebecca Han. 90 people from 15 different chapters, including from Hamilton, Canada; Madison, Wisconsin; and Akron, Ohio, attended the Young Adult Winter Retreat with the theme of "Enjoying God.° Also from chapters in NY, NJ, PA, MD, VA. Unfortunately, New England UBF chapters could not join this year but have attended in the past. Saturday PM Message was by Stephen Gan from Lehigh UBF on Psalms 32: 1-5, "Joy in Salvation." Sunday Worship Message was by Fredrick Naikal from WAUBF on Mark 12:28-32, "Joy in Everyday Life." Sunday Evening Message was given by Suzanne Jung from NYUBF on John 16:16-22, "Joy after Suffering." Praise was served by a hired outside band led by Samuel Y Choi. Icebreakers were led by Sam Choi and Sarah Bae-Choi (NY). Presiders included Sam Choi (NY), Joel Kim (NY), Gabriella Sanjur (WA), and Joseph Han Jr. (NY) There were 10 small groups led by young people, with some older shepherds supporting their groups. In all, there were ~20 group leaders/supporters. From NY, Joel Kim, Joshua Bae, Becky Yoonji Bae, and Timothy Han were relatively new small group leaders who were willing to be challenged and guide other young people in faith-led discussions. Other new leaders included Ana Seo (Philly) and Grace Noh (Philly). Seasoned and more mature leaders assisted in these groups and helped facilitate discussion and keep discussion biblically based. Yejin Park (NYU Seed) led an interest group on "Playfully Pursuing God," Keagan Callis (GMU/ATL) on "Going Into the Unknown," and Joseph Han Jr. (NYUBF) on "Biblical Finances." We shared reflection in small groups and 10 representative sharers in front of everyone to end the retreat. Thank God for His Great Provision. I am humbled by His grace and mercy throughout the entirety of the preparation and the retreat itself. We pray for continued training and development for this retreat to raise young leaders and bring home grace to share with the world and spread the gospel to other young people.
